Animation Timing

I've been teaching animation and over the years I've collected too many boxes full of notes and teaching examples. I am in the process of converting all my paper materials and posting them here for all to learn from.

Here are several pages from Timing for Animation by Harold Whitaker and John Halas. These are the pages I would give out to my students to help them understand the concept of animation timing.

Wolf walker

This Wolf lawyer walking in a scene from a Slappy Squirrel epsiode was animated by Mary Hanley and I did the inbetweens and cleanup drawings.

Enjoy this bit of animated history?

Animated Sizzling Electrical Effects from the past!

Back in the day, when CG animation was very young and effects were done by human hands. Here is an article from a favorite magazine called "Step by Step Graphics" from March/April 1988!

Sorry if some of the text is a little light and fuzzy, but hopefully you can see how much work it took to do effects back in the 80's. Today, most of these effects can be done in a few hours as oppose to weeks of work back then.
